ABOUT THE ARTIST
Justin Alesna (Dancer)
Justin Alesna is a performance artist based out of Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from the University of Detroit Jesuit, he immersed himself in community theater and dance in the metro-Detroit area. He furthered his dance training at the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet under the tutorage of Nikolai Morschakov and Wayne State University studying under Addison O’Day, Linda Simons, Patricia Morten, Karen Mulligan, Shirley Bryant, and Portia Anderson. Since then Mr. Alesna has collaborated with many local artists as well as across the United States on projects including Sylvia Suttle of Suttle Dance Company, Jacq Clark of Transfigure Dance Company, “Cherophobia” with Andrew Dall’olmo, “ImmortalU” with Jasmine Murrell, “Take It All” with SHUA Group, and “The Shaharezade Project” with multi-disciplinary artists Amy Khoshbin, PubliQuartet and HOLLANDS. Mr. Alesna's work has been performed in the Detroit Dance City Festival, Detroit Sidewalk Festival, The Charles H. Wright museum of African-American History, the Detroit Institute of the Arts and the New York City ElectroAcoustic Music Festival. Justin has danced for performing artists including Aretha Franklin, Nick Cave, Marissa Guzman, Dej Loaf, VNESSAWolfchild and was even the Ogre in the American Ballet Theater’s production of Sleeping Beauty in their 2017 Detroit performance. Justin currently dances with Joori Jung as a member of ArtLabJ. He is involved with various Arts Organizations as a consultant, educator and performer across The Metro Detroit area and abroad.
